VR3 button probs

A mate of mine has an issue with his VR3, he asks the following;

Has anyone had any problems with the magnetic buttons not working? had a problem with the l/h/s one not operating, took out the button, cleaned it and put it back in, so far its still working, but the button has always been a bit ropy, can these be purchased

Thanks for any advice in advance.

Blanaid broke her button last year and purchased replacements from Delta P, but they weren't cheap, I think they were £18 for a pair. Easy to fit though.

If the button is intact, I'd try cleaning the hole that the button sits in first, perhaps some lemon juice and a pipe cleaner?

Hi Steph,

The magnetic buttons can sometimes cause a problem but it usually would be broken in two if it is faulty. If it still looks intact it is very unlikely it is the button.

They can be purchased online at the link below;

Rebreather World Store

Try lightly oiling the button to see if that solves the 'stiffness' problem before going to the expense of replacing it.

Definitely odd that on a £600 piece of kit, you need to apply WD40 to make it work properly, but that does the trick for me. Periodic application keeps the buttons working smoothly.

Don't see why.

I have a £10k car and still need to put oil in it.

I have a £5k CCR but it still needs greasing.

Sure, but not as soon as you took them out of the box. [I know you didn't take your car or 'breather out of a box].
