<font color='#0000FF'>Hi,

Has anyone came across the same problem as me regarding the knicker elastic wrist strap snapping, fraying etc.

Could this not be replaced with the rubber type strap used on the Air x computers?

Has anyone come up with a clever idea to bypass this problem?

Not exactly...

I have the Pro Ultra, which also has the pants elastic thingy.

I threaded a lanyard through the plastic buckle, so even if the elastic breaks, I won't loose the computer. Best solution I could come up with, I'm afraid..

<font color='#0000FF'>Dominic, I got myself the screen protector/guard which has a lanyard attached also, although I'm looking for more of a permanent sturdy solution.

Thanks anyway mate

Well, if you don't mind irreversible changes: Drill two holes in the bit that the elastic is attached to, and thread bungee through...

<font color='#0000FF'>That's still going to slip down your arm though is it not?

Surley the nice grey watch type straps on the X type computers would fit!

Has anyone got a buddy that has an X type to compare with?

<font color='#000080'>I've just bought one of these things (not used it in fact) and got it mail order (£380 from SDS - bargain!) and agree that I found the strap very dissappointing when it arrived. It looks like the pins which hold the hinged strap ends could be pushed out and the hinged bits removed. I'd imagine it would then be possible to fit almost any kind of watch strap to those pins. I thought I'd give it a try as it is first though, to see how much of a problem it was likely to be.

<font color='#000080'>the pin below the screen looks removable, but i'm not sure about the top section - you'd have to take the whole thing apart (this is for the aladin pro ultra)

it's a bit fiddly, but i've got my lanyard threaded round the pin underneath, so even if the buckle breaks it's still attached.

i think it's a bit strange how most people put their lanyard further up their arm than the computer, for the reason above.
if you put your lanyard around your wrist it'll be tighter than the computer strap and won't slip off.

having said all that, my pro ultra's done about 250 dives and the strap is still in good nick, no fraying and it stays as tight as i would want

<font color='#32CD32'>I have a Pro Ultra, the strap frayed very quickly, but my LDS contacted them and supplied a new one within a week.

This one tho has also started to fray (albeit a year on) so might have to try again soon.

<font color='#000080'>hmmm, that's a bit weird. perhaps you're doing loads more dives than me, but like i said mine's done 250-odd dives over about 3 years and it's still looking fine!

<font color='#0000FF'>You'd still think that Scubapro/Uwatec would have developed a better strap and or continued the type from their older computers in order to make them interchangable!
