1) Is it free to YDers? If it is then we can restore the link with a caveat and a warning about downloading from unknown sources.

2) If you plan to charge YDers for it in the future, I can restore the link with appropriate caveats and move the thread to Member Businesses and Services.

Please can you advise which option applies. I would also suggest if you intend to charge for it and are using YD for free advertising then that's not on either and Jay may well want you to consider becoming a YD Advertiser.

Mal it all depends what you call free.

Its a program I wrote for my self and I thought others might like it so I have been letting otheres know about it.
I wrote another program before this one, no one gave me any feed back so I stoped developing it.
This one I would like feed back becouse I can not check all the senarioes.
So I have made it print demo on the print out. This creates an insentive to those that like and want to use it to return comments and report bugs.
Those that do, get a serial number. This gets rid of the demo when printing.

So it looks like it cost an email.

Hi Jonny,

Welcome to YD.

You are entitled to your opinion of course but as a Moderator here, I'd like you to see it from my perspective.

A new guy joins YD and one of the first things he does is start to promote some software he has written.

My concerns get raised on two counts.

1) YD does not know the new poster from Adam and may actually be distributing virus ridden software. I feel a responsibility to protect the established membership from such an occurence.

2) YD has 10,000 members and is a very attractive market for people who have commercial interests. Unfortunately YD costs the owners money to run it and they offset this by receiving some advertising revenue from people who want to promote their business to the YD membership.

It was important to me to understand where the OP stood on both issues.

I am sure the more established members understood where I was coming from.

Regards
Mal

Nice program, Tim - the only thing that it's clearly screaming out for is an Aladin import option. Many, many divers use the various Uwatec Aladin dive computers (dunno the statistics but I'm pretty sure that they're the market leaders) so this is one feature you've got to add.

Other than that, what's a 'dive provile'? Is it the same as a lewd divemaster?

Yes And one of the, many, wonderful things about YD is that we are protected from any pushy advertising, SPAM and bogus posts. I am most grateful for that
