Smile Praise to the Suunto

First of all I'd like to say that I am not affiliated to Suunto in any way.
Story is that I had (or I thought I had) some minor glitches with my old Vytec and transmitter (remaining air time counting down to zero slowly before counting up again, computer not giving me the amount of air used after the dive). I contacted Suunto and they told me to send both items in with a short description re the problem. Computer and transmitter were returned to me within a week (special delivery, £5), both units tested and fitted with new batteries. NO CHARGE whatsoever. The technicians I spoke to were very helpful, friendly and knowledgable. This is my 2nd Suunto and I'd recommend them to anybody. Very pleased indeed.
Andreas

Pity they go wrong in the first place! My D6 failed twice ( while on 2 different diving holidays ) while on a dive ( same error ).

Yep, they did. But it was a PITA to have 2 failures within 6 months. Luckily, I have a back up computer so it didnt ruin the dives

Agree, that really isn't good enough. At least I can say about my Vytec that it's quite a few years old now, done more than 200 dives, had never been serviced (do they need to be serviced at all?) and had never let me down. Fingers crossed.

I've got a seven year old Cobra with 300 dives, I don't treat it with all that much gentility (broke compass, used ove a scrren a year) and still working well.

I take it you used Suunto Uk for the servicing?

At first found it slightly difficult to get to the right people. Couldn't use the link on their website. Anyway, the people I dealt with are Suunto Diving in Alton, Hampshire. I can give you all the details if you like.
