I uses to use Uwatec but I would now always recommend Suunto for most recreational diving. Quality instruments that I have found to be reliable.

I would recommend the Vyper as it will do Nitrox for you. You could stretch to the Vytec if you think you will do gas switching in the future but it is a little bit more expensive.

Safe diving.

Bit of a contradiction when it comes to dive computers, I always bought what I thought was the best around for my type of diving, then my type of diving changed and changed and changed and changed and changed and changed ad inifinitum.........
A simple Suunto will do for most diving, it depends how your diving progresses.

Suunto Gekko, will do a single nitrox and work out deco, will keep you happy for a couple of years by which time the latest and greatest will be out. Not expensive and brilliant (apart from no download, officially anyway).

If price is an issue get the Suunto Gekko

If you can stretch to the Vyper2 get that - can switch between two gasses so will cover you up to the point where you might want to carry a stage for accelerated deco... Plus it has a built in electronic compass...!

An Apeks Quantum does two mixes and apparently you can pick them up for as little as £165 if you shop around.

Prior to going on to mix and having to invest in VR3s my buddy and I used Vytecs, rate them very highly and wish I had not sold mine, incidently the plastic Vytec took a considerable amount of punishment and carried on working perfectly I knocked my VR off the arm of my chair onto the carpet and it packed up, its not made for it was Delta Ps reply ???????????????
