Hello all

I bought one of these recently to use for mixed gas work where my Aladdin couldn't.

I couldn't find the ascent rate used in the accompanying manual, so took a look at the uwatec site and found the ascent rate for the Aladdin computers (variable). It is as follows:
depth [m]:       speed [m/min]:
<6                 7
<12                8
<18                9
<23                10
<27                11
<31                13
<35                15
<39                17
<44                18
<50                19
>50                20

I'm assuming (from the wording on the website) this is used for the uwatec timer also, if so, this varies considerably from a standard 10m/min ascent rate (particularly at depth) many tables are cut for.

Does anybody have a definitive answer to the uwatec ascent rate?

Thanks

PH

You can use a Aladin as a dive timer, especially a nitrox one.
An ordinary one will get bent every dive for up to several days and kill the battery quicker but a nitrox one won't if you set it to 50%. It will beep at you for the whole dive almost ( I never hear it till I surface and you can switch the beeps off, never bothered doings so myself) but works perfectly as a dive timer and on reaching the surface is completely unbent.
I use a D timer and my aladin as my two timers when diving tables rather than having two D timers around.

I have an Aladdin Pro Ultra and had heard about the 50% option turning it into a divetimer, so will give that a try - thanks.

However, from he initial post, any ideas if the d-timer does share the variable ascent rate as listed above? If so, this can make a big difference to the overall ascent rate/time based on a fixed rate table.

I'd email uwatec but can't find an email address.

It really depends how you do your deco, if you count the ascent time to a stop in the stop time itself then, unless the ascent rate is so slow that you don't get to the stop before the end of it, it will make little or no difference.

The Uwatec D-timer uses a fixed 10mpm ascent rate. It has a variable display though.....

I think you are worrying about nothing. The difference will be marginal on deeper stops and shallow stops usually have the travel time built in.
The differenec you are talking about is not enough to fret about and in practice will make no difference for normal run of the mill deco diving. IMO of course
