Despite getting it open in access i cant make head nor tail of the structure it uses to store information. I was hoping to write a script to parse it to create my own log programme but the DB design itself seems somewhat random and to me at least very confusing.
I thought about writing up a website to do this, but gave up when I looked up the database and more interesting projects came up. But if you'd be interested on working on something?

Theres the dm2html (I think) for older versions, unfortunately it doesn't work for this version of the software

Cheers for the above info, gives me somewhere to start.

The format appears to be a standard Suunto can use for all their computers for all sports (as its got lat/long, altitude, velocity etc) but it also seems as if nobody really thought out the DB structure - i suspect they based it on the non public format for the v1 software without really tidying up.

What i might do is create a "new" file with just 1 dive in as opposed to trying to extract data from my 600+ list here so i can change things in a controlled way and see what the difference is.

My ultimate goes i think will be a programme possibly to convert it into a more sensible mysql database and/or from there a HTML based log.

I did look a while ago at custom download off the computer but the cable doesnt use standard serial protocols to initiate so means in windows at least i'd need to ditch .NET framework and work directly with APIs which is a pain in the arse - i do have working linux C++ code for it though i found.
So thats why im looking at converting the d9.mdb rather than live download for now anyway.

Definitely worth working on something for me anyway - stage 1 is to extract the data from there (maybe only a few things initially) and put it into a more meaningful format in access, html (or maybe XML?).

Last time I looked at a similar project - I gave up! The data comes accross in a wierd format - I used a virtual RS232 port which records data to 'spy' on the download. The version I looked at was written in Delphi (Pascal) with some bespoke DLLs for data transfer. The data in the DB is 'sporadic' to say the least - you can get meaningless data all over the place - which is why I gave up.
