Unhappy Vyper 2 SDM Problems

Heya,

I've been trying to download my dives to my PC but Suunto Dive Manager wont recognise my Vyper 2.

I know the Stinger and things have a PC mode you can put them in but the vyper 2 has none.

Any Ideas?

I'm on Vista with a usb cable.

Thanks,
Pete

Is there some sort of conflict between Vista and Suunto Dive Manager? Which SDM programme are you using? I am able to download to my pc from Vyper and Vytec without having to put them into PC mode. They do have to go into TR-PC mode though.
Is this a recent problem or longstanding?

Are you using the latest version of it? Anything less than current has no support for it according to the site.

This is the first time i have tried it, I'm using the latest one from the Suunto site with the vyper 2 update. By PC mode i mean the TR-PC mode, there is no sort of mode like that mentioned in the manual anywhere, and the manual only mentiones that it "can" be used with SDM not "how"

Cheers,
Pete

Press the button

This may seem too obvious, but having pressed the options to see TR_PC on the computer you need to press the select button once more to actually select TR-PC.
Not that I had any such issue when first starting to transfer data, but I had this friend that did.

Recently ran into this one myself - Just upgraded from an old Mosquito to a Vyper 2.

The serial port connection lead for the Mosquito does not work with the Vyper 2 (although it fits into the Vyper interface). Suunto have gone over to a USB connection lead and the latest version of SDM locates the Vyper 2 and puts it into transfer mode. There is no TR_PC option in the menu as it is now automatic.

You need to get the new lead and associated driver files to get this working. I got mine from a German guy who is selling them on ebay.

Rich

just a forthouth also if you have a few dives already in the .sdm file the file that holds all the dive data that you have downloaded make sure you back the data up somewhere on the computer as its normaly deleted whenever you upgrade to a newer version as i to my horror once found out !
