surely the Vytec and the D9 has the same dive software and would give the same deco stops.

I don't think the issue was with them providing worse, or different, stops - it was an issue with the depth sensor going tits-up below 50m.

Compass is a pain!

Which has got me thinking...

So someone please help me make my mind up

(And before Woz or similair suggest it both is not an option)
I dive a D9, great in every way except the compass!! Unless you press the button every minute it reverts to selected dive display. You then have to reselect compass mode, this can prove to be a right pain in the a#@e!! in poor vis if you have no visual reference & need to monitor your bearing constantly!

I had the D9 a while back it was kinda cool, but the compass isn't very practical and the display and buttons I found too small, esp. when doing more deco based dives. In the pub it occassionally got a comment, but it still was rather huge.
I sold it, kept the transmitter and bought a Vytec DS. I prefer it, much easier to see. I use it with a Suunto wrist mount compass and UWatec Bottom timer.
In the longer term I will probably replace it with a VR3 or LiquidVisionX thingy...

Gareth.

Ouch! Not taken mine below 50m, taken it to 49m this year. Hopefully it is just an issue with a particular batch and hopefully mine isn't in that batch! Seems odd though, the sort of thing that would have been picked up in testing. Unless they didn't test it below 50m as you cant use gases with less than 21% O2?? Just a guess.

Having not used the D9 i cannot comment, But im very happy with my vytec DS the screen is large and easy to see. Provides me with all the information in a clear to view format, with buttons easily pressed. I havent bothered with transmitter as a reckon its just something to go wrong.
