Id like to go to Trimix at some point hence the thoughts of VR£, ahhh confusion!
Have you considered the GUE trimix route or are you keeping options open at the moment? The reason I ask is if you've decided against tech1 then a VR£ may be a pretty good choice for mix diving, however if tech1 may be an option then I'd probably stick with the D9 in gauge mode and see how you get on with fundies. Once you've done that you may have a better idea of whether GUE training suits you or not - and if it does then a basic bottom timer will do fine.

There do seem to be a few reports about dodgy buttons on the 2G - has there been any response from Aladdin about this as it doesn't seem to be an isolated case...

Just get a Depth timer for your course and see how you go from there.
Cheers Fiona.

I did actually have a Prime at one point and to be honest hated the long, press short press operation.

I already have a bottom timer and can just whack the D9 in gauge mode if I want a backup timer for the course.

Might have to leave the D9 as is just now till I do the course and make my own mind up. I like diving with a computer and even thouh going to do fundies I can't see myself not needing a computer for some types of diving with the local club, holiday dives etc.

I have considered Tech1, just not sure how I am going to get on at Fundies and don't want to start planning that far ahead, just thinking outloud right now.

I am not convinced every dive I do will be with other GUE divers and thats where it break down for me at this point.

Yup appreciate that. You say you've got a bottom timer as well - so I'd use that for the fundies course and see how it goes. It's definitely worth giving the recommended stuff a shot on the course if you've got it and see how you get on. You won't need a backup timer, you have your team.

What sort of diving are you talking about at the moment? Recreational non-deco stuff? You could probably still manage depending on how flexible your buddies are. For instance if you stick to a maximum of 30 minutes at 30M then you can follow a min deco ascent profile which shouldn't upset computers too much. You can always then do 3@6 and a slow (1M/min) ascent to allow various computers to clear - a bit of extra deco doesn't hurt

If you're talking tech/deco dives then that's different and you'd need to look at things in more detail with your buddies.

I don't know if it was an isolated problem, Brian sent it back for me and they replaced it - no problem.

When ever I press the buttons to try and engage the reset for the ascents they just don't seem to work, so I have given up on it a bit really.

How about a VR2..? it goes to Trimix and it has gauge mode...bloody expensive timer though..

I sold a transmitter last year from my Vytec...its the same one as your D9 and got £160 for it on ebay..but it was mint.

i don't need a D9 though.
