| I dont like Apex computers. This is a personal thing to many beeps and pings under water, also my buddy has went through 3 of them so far and none have worked right. I went for a nitrox computer with no gas switching when I started diving (sunnto stinger) and was informed at the time that I should have bought the gas switching model as I would need it later on. 5 years later I bought the gas switching model (Vytec DS) and did not need it. I still used my first comp as a bot timer with tables when using accelerated deco or as a wrist watch when not diving. IMHO get a second hand Sunnto Stinger it is a great tool and will last a lifetime. Ricky |

| Cheers Ricky, I guess I'll just stick to the good old bottom timer and 88s for now then.

| Tbh two of my regular dive buddies have Apex Quantum's they are very very conservative which isn't a bad thing sometimes but to get ones that worked they went through approx. 3 or 4 each which had to be replaced under warranty due to different faults. I started with a vytec and never had any problems with it and have now moved onto a VR3 for use with my rebreather. |

| Reliability would be a pretty good reason not to get one then!

| I have a quantum (my 2nd) yes the early ones had bugs but the customer service and no quibble exchange is 1st class and they turn things round very fast. The comp does exactly what you want and is good value. The only issue I have had with my current one was my fauly really, 2 days of digging in anglesey clay bunged up the buttons and I had to clean them up with a tooth brush to free them up, otherwise it's a good tool.

| Many computers available with different brand names are exactly the same and come from Seiko. As I understand it, the only actual major volume manufacturers are Suunto, Uwatec, Seiko and Mares.
