Typically Id dive something like 21% back gas and 32% and 80% for deco.
Doesn't really give you much advantage over diving with backgas and 50% though, does it?

Well yes and no. I'm not talking about really slow ascents and I'm not talking about hanging around at depth, more profiles like down to 40m, then start stopping for a minute from 18m upwards. Run that through most computer deco programs and it won't increase your deco. Might even reduce it. But the Vytecs/Vypers seem to carry on clocking it up. They want you to shoot up to 6m and stay there.

Aladdins were always a bit weird too. They'd take twice as long to clear 3m stops at 6m, but if you run it through a Buhlmann based deco program, it should only take about a third as long.

The Nitek X looks potentially interesting when it finally comes out. Does GFs.

Cheers for all the responses people. Some interesting and. as always. competing ideas there, makes for good reading. I'll give it a good think.

I'm not in a hurry to splash the cash but I like being informed when I do!

Who dives 3 mixes of nitrox

Even if you only ever dive two mixes a 3 mix computer can come in handy

Day 1 (Dive on 32% bottom gas and 100% for deco

Day 2 ( dive on 28% bottom gas and 100% for deco

You jump in and on the way down you look at you computer and it says you’re on the 32% from the day be4, shit you think what a nob I am,

Alls not lost if you have a 3 mix computer and your 3rd mix is set with 21% nitrox

You switch 21% and the dive is still on …

Now don’t come back with, it wont give you the right CNS, or some other crap
I know how to work out my CNS per min out in my head so im good to go

all you need to do is use the tools you have
If you don’t have the tools then said dive is over,

tips on getting the best out of the suunto
There are one or two other things that can be done by setting your mix a few % lower then what you have i.e. ,,, 96% and not 99 , you can now switch at 6.4m to o2 slide to 6m and press the buttom , works fine ,,

Also if you feel your buddy’s are getting out of the water be4 you all the time,
You could tell the computer your on 34% when your diving 32%
No saying some one should do this, as you could end up bent,
But then you all know that, being deco gurus,

Smile Gekko?

Doesnt the Suunto Gekko do the same job? or maybe it only has one nitrox setting per dive.

No gas switching on the Gekko. Or backlight.

Digs.
