VR3 download Q's.......

Hi.. I've just bagged another VR3 from a fellow YD'r and this ones got the download kit and 2 pin rebreather cable with it.....

The IR cable is serial....can I use an adapter to swap it to USB..? and if I do will it work..? because I understand the download on a VR3 ia a bit lumpy..!

Also.... as its got the 2pin rebreather cable with it and is unlocked for it... can I turn it into an O2 Analiser...?

Has anyone done...? and is it alright...?

I haven't done it myself because I've seen others try and the results were always disappointing, I have never considered the download log of the vr£ to be it's best feature.

All that said, to answer your question, most USB to serial converters don't work, I've heard of one or two which do and a search around this board and rbw might help. What i have found to work is a PCMCIA serial adapter, I have a Quintech one which I use to provide a serial connection for programming plcs at work. This does work on a vr£, I tried it on a mates.
