Suunto

Ok folks some advise please. I use a Vytec and a Vyper as a back up, a few months ago I had the Vytec strap taken off and it put into a boot type holder and it goes on me arm with bungee. Since then I have had real problems when transferring data onto my pc as for most of the time I get a message saying device not found. On checking it seems like the copper pointy bits on the data transfer cable are not quite long enough to make contact with the opposite contact points while the Vytec is in the boot. Also one of the copper contacts seems extremely short and flattened and just about peeps out of the plastic part.
This is the 2nd data transfer cable I have used as I thought the fault lay in that. So has anyone suggestions on a remedy?

Similar issue with my vyper and the DSS boot- it seems JUST too thick to prevent a secure connection.

Only solution i found was to remove from boot to download dives.

have you got the boot on the right way around? I don't have mine in front of me at the moment, but there's a definite rectangular cutout on the back for the data cable, but only on one side, so it needs to go on the right way round/up

don't ask me how I know this ....

edit: I have the custom ideas cable rather than the suunto one

This is correct as I have mine in front of me at the moment and can see it. Check you have the Vytec in the correct mounting for a Vytec. I also have my Uwatec dive timer in a mounting but that is for the dive timer. I'm guessing there maybe another Suunto mounting for the Vyper (or other) that may not line up correctly for the Vytec.

Not sure why Weazelz is suffering some embarrassment, unless of course he initially put his in the wrong way round (sniggering like Mutley )

I find that i have to remove vyper from boot, wash contacts in fresh water and dry before they make good contact

Hi Yes the boot is on the correct way. But thank you for the suggestion.

I had a similar problem with my custom idea usb cable, i used a sharp knife to just open up the hole in the dss boot a little , and know it works fine.
