VR3 advice

Hi, I am looking to buy a VR3 trimix/nitrox open & closed circuit.
What do you reckon a fair second hand price would be - £400 ? The only upside to buying new would probably be the newer software v5 2007, but if I bought second hand I assume I could have it upgraded. Advice would be welcome.

I haven't been tracking ebay for cost comparisons, its just I know someone who is selling one.

Thanks, Ian

Hi,

Very roughly i would say

£400 for an older unit (ver 2.xx)
£450 for a version 3
£More for a ver 5

I think that for an upgrade to the latest version they old computers need a new circuit board? - perhaps someone can confirm this for you?

Regards,

Anthony

Personally I wouldn't get too obsessed with the software version - as long as it's 2.1 or better, the basic functionality will be pretty much the same with the newer software versions just offering extra 'bells and whistles' that you'll probably never need (deco books and custom logos, anyone?). There's some real bargains out there on VR3s at the moment so whatever you end up buying, you'll get one hell of a good dive computer!
