TEC 2G (FWPOS) HELP NEEDED...

................I can't get it to talk to my IRDA thingy. As it wouldn't talk to my old one, I bought a new one and it still won't play. Last time I downloaded any dives was the Buddy can you spare a dime Scapa Trip last year............/whinge.

Please can you get it to work, please, please, please?

And write it down slowly, and from the beginning, and in easy language

Di

Usually IRDA devies get serial port IRQ Conflicts (that probably means nothing to you).

Id suggest the following.

Reboot PC, go into BIOS (usually Delete or F10 Buttons when the bios is loading)

Disable onboard serial ports (unless you are using them, highly unlikely these days).

Boot the pc up and see what happens (obviously there is more to it than that but try that first)

Davie.

oh Come on, I did try

SWITCH ON PC
READ SCREEN - look for the message that says "to enter bios" or "to configure" or something like that.
PRESS THAT BUTTON
Look for the menu option for "on board devices"
Find "serial ports" read the screen see which option disables them.

Save and exit.

See what happens.

Is that really that bad? Am I just born geek?

Smile down load

hello
the down load dongle has to be very close and in the right place so when you ask the computer to transfer the dives move the dongel around and hopefully it will pick up
good luck adrian

Actually Thats a good point, I was making the assumption the IRDA adaptor wasnt working in the first place.

It does need a direct line of sight and should be close enough but not too close.

Thanks guys - I held the dive computer really close and angled it a bit so the dongle could see the pointy bits inside.....it works. But it only works once, so what I did is downloaded the dives - hurrah - using the old dongle, then I used the new dongle to change the settings etc. Then if you unplug the new dongle, the whole computer goes into a frenzy and shuts down saying serious error, going to die etc. So, I just start it up again and ignore all that.

But I do confess to having removed all of AOL this afternoon, despite dire warnings, now Windows warns me of something else and it is all horrrible. But at least I have downloaded my dives

Tommorow, I will start asking how to repair all that - but enough already

Thanks again

Di
