Stinger Battery Replacement

Hi folks

Some help required please!
Is the Battery on a Suunto Stinger user replaceable?
If not can you get a jewller to change it maybe?

Heya,

It's not user replaceable as it is a sealed unit, you have to open the whole thing up to get to the battery. I had to get mine sent off, cost about £45 for new battery and testing via my LDS.

That's friggin' scandalous! £45 for changing a battery that costs about £2?

And what testing? Switch it on and see if it starts - tested

I'd think about changing my LDS if they took the piss out of me like this.

I don't know whether this is true or not, but the explanation given to me by a dive shop as to why they DIDN"T change SUUNTO battereies was that there wasn't enough money in it for them compared to a big upfront outlay. They said that they couldn't use just any small pressure chamber to test, but claimed that SUUNTO insisted that to be registered as a SUUNTO service centre they had to buy (from SUUNTO ) a specific model. Without it they could not be registered and therefore warranty on any computer that they serviced / changed battery would be void .
