| suunto stinger diy battery change found yesterday that the battery in my stinger was kaput and being on our way to sharm on sunday i had no time to send it back to suunto so did a bit of digging around and found this Smartinterface - Ihr Webshop für Tauchzubehör and this http://www.smartinterface.de/downloa...luessel_uk.pdf but didnt have enough time to get it sent from germany so i made my own bench for the casing to sit in consisting of four nails knocked into a piece of 3x2 and cut off with a grinder, the tool for removing the casing i made from a piece of flat steel about 5mm thick by 2 1/2 inch wide i drew around the casing of the stinger and then drilled 3 4.5mm holes to correspond with the lugs on the lunette of the computer on opposing sides ie like the corners of a triangle, i screwed 3 allen headed m5 x 20mm grub screws into the holes and left them protruding about 4mm on the other side then i fitted the casing into the holder and unscrewed the lunette, the battery is a cr2430 but i bought a battery and o ring kit for a suunto oxyspy the battery is the same and the o ring is the same one that goes under the glass of the stinger the most fiddly bit is getting the new o ring to sit in the groove under the glass face but its back together now at a total cost of a couple of hours and about £8 |

| got my battery from here Oxyspy Replacement Battery, from DivePursuits in Analyser Accessories - it comes with the o ring, you could probably get them from maplins or ebay though forgot to say if you order the tool it appears to come with a battery and new o ring Last edited by mark g : 18-04-08 at 09:30 AM. |

| The battery can be obtained from Rapid Electronics: Rapid Electronics - Lithium coin cells Costs 75p + VAT. It's the O rings that are a bit more difficult. How did you know that the Oxyspy O ring would fit the Stinger? did you have one available to try? Steve

| i didnt know the o ring would fit i bought the kit for the battery it was just lucky that the ring was a perfect match for the stinger o ring |
| |||
| might be worth asking the suppliers of the tool if they can give a price for extra o rings, i looked through our local supplier and there was nothing that came close, if you need to order a job lot let me know and i will split the cost, away for 2 weeks though 9 days diving booked ![]() |
