| Gekko Another vote for the Gekko. Diving Computers - Suunto Gekko or most places will flog you one for around £140 - 150. Great Computer and you will find you will probably be able to sell it really quickly for decent money WHEN you start gas switching and different mixes (which if this is your first computer I pesume you wont be doing for a little while yet). |

| First off you need to ask your self how keen are you on this diving lark. If the answer is very and you dive in the UK then id sugest you think carefully about your choice. What ever you do make sure the computer does Nitrox. Id strongly sugest it does gauge mode. Id sugest it does multiple nitrox mix. This last point will raise a few nay sayers but enriched deco diving is extreemy usefull even in the 30m range and it could be surprising how quickly it becomes something you want to do. So for the sake of a few extr quid id look for a second hand Suunto Vytec or DS. It will last you all the way to trimix diving if thats where your going and it will be far more saleable if you decide its not. A second hand DS or Vytec should be about £200-250. ATB Mark

| As I'm a student I wanted a very cheap yet reliable computer for my first one and I didn't want to buy second hand, I got a Mares Puck for £110 from LIDS and have been very very happy with it, it's really easy to use, back lit, computer downloadable, has gauge mode, nitrox capable and runs on a deep stop model, infact the only thing it doesn't do is gas switching which I doubt I'll be using for a good 4-5 years anyway.

when starting out diving almost all the kit you buy will be wrong.... unless you dive just for fun on holiday once a year.... some years later and a complete change of kit.... I would buy a comp with gauge mode, but if not one that did nitrox as a minimum. .
