| I fell into the trap of looking at new computers lately, it's what we divers do, but I kept comparing them to my own and found I liked it more than I thought. The watch type are too small to read clearly, especialy when a bit narked. I would like the advantage of switching gases during a dive, but in reality I would probably never, or on very rare occasions, use it - not worth a couple of hundred quid for the novelty. My surveyor is getting on a bit now, 5 years and I've managed to "clock" its dive counter which only remembers 200 dives, hence the initial look for somthing new. I will still keep my eyes open for something, but I must admit, I am comfortable with my Surveyor. James

| Imported post i havent had my surveyor that long... it was a birthday present so i didnt choose it.. to be fair i dont particually like it.. cant really explain why though |

| Imported post <font color='#000080'>I bought a Viper when I started diving and it was fine, easy to use and clear to understand. last year in Egypt I saw stingers for what I considerd to be a bargin, so I bought one and use it all the time with the viper as a backup. Just as easy to use and clear to see. I only dive air but both will do nitrox, however I don't know if they allow you to switch mid dive. As with all kit, get the best that you can afford.

Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain." Time to dive. |

| Imported post I also have a vyper and find its easy to use and very clear underwater. However with the diving i'm about to start doing i wish i had brought the vytec, but i now have an excuse to buy a VR3, just need the £600 for one. From what you have said and what everyone else has replied its looks like a vyper would be ideal for you. Tim

| Imported post yeah the vyper looks like the ideal one... however i keep going back to the stinger.. is the stinger really too small for a dive computer and to big for a watch? any pics would be good! |

| Imported post <font color='#736AFF'>I purchasd the Vytec, initially without a transmitter as i could not see the point. Vytec has done over 100 dives in two years and been a great performer. Although I don't use mixed gases, I may, so no need to upgrade. A year ago my beloved purchased the transmitter. It is a great boon. The computer calculates how long the air will last in your cylinder. I found this made me more relaxed and air consumption improved by about 15%. So not a gimmick, but you don't need to purchase this until you have the money A couple of friends had Stingers but found them difficult to read in the water. |

| Imported post <font color='#008080'>Bought a Vyper, done ~80 dives on it so far. Found it very easy to use and read underwater. I dive on air at the moment, but will be training to use Nitrox soon so the Vyper will come in handy for that. Later on I may want to upgrade to a Vitex so I can switch gasses for deco but at first I'll just deco on the higher % but do the stops for the bottom gas. On another note, quite a few members of my club have Vypers and I've not heard a bad comment about them.

| Imported post Hi, both me and my wife have Vyper's and they have been really good. The screen is good and you can make out all of the figures. If you were thinking of a Stinger then bear in mind that you will have to read it under water in what may be bad vis!!!!! If you're not bothered about downloading detail to the PC then I've read good reports about the Gekko. Got our from the diveshow a couple of years back for £160, not bad to say that they're still retailing for approx. £190 Dive safe, Gary
