Imported post I've got a couple of Vypers and they are great as everyone says. However, you can't switch gases on them mid-dive so it's Vyper on guage mode and tables for deco stuff. Don't get me wrong, the Nitrox element is fine, but more than one mix and you have to do things manually. Would it be more cost-effective cash-wise to get a more expensive computer now and not upgrade later? Or, as I do, consider it an upgrade opportunity in the future? Hopefully technology will have moved on when you need to upgrade. One word of warning - Guage mode won't let you switch to Air or Nitrox for at least 48hrs after the last dive!!! A PITA if you're not expecting it... RTFM and all that...

Imported post I have a stinger, I have dived with it for 15 dives. Ranging between 20 - 55 meters. So far it has performed just fine. I replaced my aladin pro (which i cannot bring myself to sell just yet!) The stinger serves me as a backup depth/time gauge when on extended range dives. On these dives my main timing / depth gauge is a simple uwatec digial, and all deco stops are on a slates. uwatec digital face is slightly bigger and easier to read when it dark and / or your are slightly narc'd. On dives were I plan to not enter any decompression obligation, I have used the stinger on its own and found the screen size easy and clear to read. As a watch, it is slightly bigger than a citizen aqualand in both height, width and screen size.

Imported post thanks for you comments... please keep them comming! ill only really be useing it in higher vis, maybe the odd one or two lower vis dives.

Imported post I'm considering getting the gekko, it is quite a bit cheaper , anybody own this? I found this interesting link sunnto for an interactive demonstration unfortunately not for gekko

| Imported post Isnt gecko the model lacking computer download option ? Makes very handy logging that. FWIW ive got a vyper and done roughly 40 dives on it and had no problems at all so far. (bet thats cursed it). A lot of people in the club also have Vypers, the odd Vytec and the odd Stinger thrown in.
