I have dived a D6 in the UK for several years and the screen size is not a problem. The lack of gas switches has caused a problem and I now use a Helo2 and the D6 is in gauge mode (and tables from vPlanner before the deco police get me).

A mate has used the Vytec for a similar amount of time to my D6 and has all end of problems with it not accepting he's pressing the buttons, reading the wrong depth and refusing to talk to his transmitter. It's been back to Suunto twice and been replaced twice. He's now swapped it out for a Helo2 too.

I was in the same situation, I would consider a second hand vr3 as i thought I would only be doing deep air dives until i did a dive on a mix, then quikly went on from that to ccr. I have a vytec and use it on all my sports dives and use it in gauge for ccr. hope you get sorted.
