    Suunto D6 or Vytec DS

Im looking for another dive computer that can do gas switching, I've got £400 to buy another shiny little gadget. So far im thinking a D6 or a Vytec DS.

Im not interested in doing Trimix so that function is not needed, just air and nitrox up to 100%.

Whats the general recomendations on what to buy and reasons for doing so?

    Thanks in advance...

    Vytec

Now I might be wrong (frequently am) but the D6 can only do two nitrox mixes, where as the vytec can do 3, so if you're carrying say 50% and 100% in addition to your back gas you can't really dive the D6 as a gas switching computer. The D9 will do it, but they're a lot more expensive.

I've got a vyper2, which is also limited to 2 gasses, so while I was in the philippines a while back using two stages, had to use it in gauge mode. And if you're going to do that you may as well get a uwatec for £100...

Vytec gets my vote... plainly because the screen is smaller on the D6 and I really don't like the dot display.... I sold my D6 and kept my Vytec.

I looked all over the suunto site for a comparison tool, umm maybe i didnt look all over...

The only thing that concerns me on the Vytec is the flimsy looking strap, is it really as sh?t as it looks? I have been using a D4 in the UK and find the screen size ok to be honest, allthough when its dark it's a pain is the ass having to light the screen by holding the button in for 3 -5 seconds.

    Thanks

    cost

other considerations are the cost of battery and how easy it is to replace, D4 great for hols and clear conditions and stops on ya wrist , mate has just had aquote for a battery for D9 £60 and it has lasted for 18months , any way just a consideration.

The strap on the Vytec is perfectly sound and very strong, however I took mine out and use a Deepsea mounting which makes putting on so much easier.... its also bungied so depth compensating.
