Question Re sizing images for profile

I'm trying to put an image in my profile. I know I'm limited to 150 x 150 pixels and 64 kb. I can resize it to 11kb but can't seem to get the right size (best I can do is 640 x 420.) The system rejects this image. How do I re size so it is acceptable to the forum? I only have MS Picture It to work with...any suggestions.

Well, considering the size of your avatar, I thought you'd be an expert in image re-sizing

Open photoshop or paintshop, and resize the image to 150x150 max

I will recommend a fully featured and most excellent open source graphics package that will handle just about everything you want it to do with a similar functionality to Photoshop. It is called The Gimp, it is open source and free. You can find it at http://www.gimp.org for linux and unix and http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/ for windows. :-)

Arrow Try Avatar Sizer (free)

This free tool looks useful if you need to shrink an avatar/image, can also adjust quality to reduce file size.

If you can go to the following site:

http://tinypic.com/

and then upload the pic you want to use, it will give you a URL/weblink.

Once you've got that, simply go to USerCP and copy-n-paste the link into the appropriate box in your profile picture section and then press save INSTEAD of uploading a pic from your PC.

HTH.

Smile Many thanks...

Thanks to all the offers of help. Noel re sized it for me and it's now on the profile page.

I've saved the various web links for future reference though...
