how do I stop messages being marked read?

I don't know if this a feature of the forum or my web browser, but after I've been browsing the forum for a while (say, 1/2 hour), all the messages get marked "read" even threads I haven't read yet. Is there an option I can turn off to stop this happening?

Cheers!

Yes, that sometimes happens to me, very occasionaly before I've read any.

RBW, I think has a new posts feature that has a drop down to 'New posts sin last visit', 'In the last 25 Hours' and 'In the last 48' hours.

Is that an option that we (well, our admins) could implement?

There is nothing you can do Pingu, it is a global setting across the board.

A future version of the forum software is likely to have a thread by thread by user 'read' setting. This could slow 'large' forums down, so may well not be implemented if it is perceived by users as degrading the forum.

Thanks, at least I know it's not just me. Although I only just noticed this thread had replies because it was always marked read when I looked before!!

I search the boards using the following link:

http://www.yorkshire-divers.co.uk/fo...etdaily&days=2

It gives all posts in the last 2 days whether they've been read or not.

Laters,

If I haven't been on the boards for a while and there are pages of unread threads then I open each page in a new window/(or tab using Mozilla) then I can read them at my leisure without losing em and having to search through each forum..

Janos - Have a gruesome for a useful link
