Please try the 'request lost password' function to have a random password emailed to your log-on email address

If you used a fake email address then OH DEAR! You'll have to re-register and serves you right!

Exclamation Site Speed & Passwords - New Board, Old Problems.
I know this was raised a while back - the site is running a MASSIVE database (over 70 megs) and this is going to get larger. The boards index the database on a regular basis but a slight lag is going to be something to be expected from a base this size so please take this into account!


Also, Well, you'll notice a few changes around here! We've changed belletin boards to vBulletin and managed to import MOST of the old board's data. The old database had started corrupting over time and this fed into several of our backups too unfortunately. This has meant that we have lost all posts and members since 4th May 2004.

On the bright side, we have moved to new server space and with the new board installed, we are able to branch out (more soon )

You'll notice a few changes - I'll let you figure some of them out!

There are many Vbs with over a million posts, the highest getting on for 18 million!

I hate to think how big their db is...

Me neither - ours is about 130mb with nearly 85,000 posts so nearly 27 gigs Wonder what their retreival time is when everyone is signed in?

I've not seen Fat Freddy's cat for years Jay...

I believe that many large sites run Apache/PHP on one server, with mySQL running on a second... Also compiling Apache etc to only use the modules required - no extras to slow them up. I suppose you could also use load sharing, but I don't have a scoob how this works with the db.
