Although I have done no major deep dives with my new VR3, max 35meters, I have not seen a safety stop displayed. My Suunto Vyper always adds a safety stop. Should the VR3 be showing a safety stop or is this down to the diver? Just wondering as you mentioned safetys. Neil

Come to think of it what is the 30% safety setting? I have only found the po2 and min depth stop settings. I really need to get to grips with the VR3, at present I use the Vyper but watch the VR3 to learn, but must learn the in's and out's before any mixed gas as the Vyper has no gas switching. Neil

And is it Safetys or safeties, both look wrong to me ![]()

Thanks for the tip jp, will have to have a play and look for those safety settings. Neil

| It's great What the conservatism setting does is to make the computer think that the inert gas content is higher than it is (I don't know exactly the amount, but I think it's something like - 10% conservatism - +2% inert gas content, 20% = +4% etc.) This way the deco calculation is assuming a slightly higher tissue loading. What this will do though, to extend all the stops, rather than change the profile (like GFs do). There's a school of thought though that says it is not the best solution to set the conservatism on the computer. The reason for this is that if you leave the computer on 0% conservatism, it will be giving you the fastest possible schedule to the surface - which is the poo hits the fan, you might be grateful for. If you want to add conservatism, then you can pad the stops yourself, as much as you feel confortable doing. The caveat to this is that you might want to have a reasonable understanding of deco theory to make good judgements on what is a suitable amount of padding. The "safety" setting, is a bit of a lazy mans way of adding to the stops, for those who want the computer to run the dive..... I love my VR3. It's great, I have "pi$$ed it off" a few times by missing deep stops, and it's always still gotten me safely to the surface.
