That doesn't sound good at all. My vytec , when it goes into deco, shows your ascent time to the surface (including the extra 3 minute stop that it always adds for everything). So when i get to 5.9m or shallower it shows it all as stop time and then starts counting it down.

I ownder if you have yours set up in a strange mode? and how can you then ensure you have done all your deco obligation?

Steve's is a vyper and it seems to work in the same way as mine, giving similar deco requirements

Jules

I've a Vytec and it works the same as Jules. I'll add that if you've never gone into deco on one before it's worth running the simulation. You suddenly got from 0 minutes of no stop time to 5 mins of stops (ie 2min real stops + 3 mins safety stops) pretty quickly, and it can be unnerving if you're not used to it.

Laters,
Janos

PS - Glad you're ok Leigh, and thanks for posting this. Certainly got me thinking.

Sorry to hear your news but happy to hear you are on the mend.

Now im certainly not meaning what im going to say as being bad so please no one take it that way. Its just Iv picked something up from these events that no one else seems to have posted about.

You said in the morning you had gone on line to see if your buddy was ok. His wife had informed you he had been rushed to hospital with a bend.

Did no one at any point try to contact you? surely the guys at his chamber at least would have been interested in how you were feeling?

From these events from now on Im going to make sure my partner has my buddies dive info, numbers etc. So that if anything happens to me then they to can be contacted. Im also going to ask my buddies to give my info to there partners.

I wonder if you would have gone to the hospital had you not been able to contact the buddy. Would you have just maybe though you were ill.

I use a mosquito and seeing as this happend partly on a Suunto as well its a worry. Like others have said for two computers of different makes to be effected is very strange.

Hope your diving soon,

Jamie

PS

have you contacted Suunto?

While im on one! I think if you have not done so yet Yippediver should be given some green for sharing an experiance that Im sure some people would not.

Its through reading events like this that we can all learn something.

I will go back to sleep now!

Jamie

its like i say guys at the end of dive 2 we ws both at the side of the cock pit at the top of the roadway and was virtualy side by side. as for the aladin i dont even think it gives you a saftety stop to do although i mite be wrong as glyn does one with me anyway!!as for the computer i hav had i for nearly a year now so i know its workings inside out and its never seeminly malfunctioned in any way !!as for the error ascent on dive 2 it should have also been beeping as there is an audible alarm set to run with all the usual alarm situation i.e. fast ascents and by breaking an ascent ceiling and going into error mode as its starts to flash ?? i think with hindsight we both may have spent too long at the deepest depth for too long and been bitten!!! although glyns computer was showing at the point where i was supposed to have gone into deco his computer was showing 8 minutes because i was hovering above the bop at about 16 metres ish they was no different to 50 other profiles i have got from previous weeks diving at stoney as these dives we normaly do every week ps sorry i couldnt carry on the thread last night as i went to bed feeling knackered best wishes leigh

Doesn't look like any real deco would result from those dives.

Certainly not enough to explain why both divers got bent - very odd.

Unless you two had a moment during a dive where you did too fast an ascent - I don't see why there was a problem.

Looking at the schedules the only thing I can think of was you started off with air and not nitrox. That being the case you would have missed 10 mins or so of deco on the 2nd dive and some on the last. -But I presume you analyzed your gas?

Sorry to see your problems and at least you had the the sense to get it sorted out and not go into denial.
What was your surface intervals between the dives?
Andy

Thats what I figured seeing as both your descent and ascent rates from what I could see on the graphs are very conservative.

Im at a loss to explain 2 hits. One yes thats going to happen, but 2 divers getting undeserved hits on the same dive...thats not common.

Did you analyse your gas before the 1st dive?
