Deco Regs - what do you use?

I use the Posiden Xtreams for all my regs. The black ones for the TMX backgas, the Green one for the Lean deco/Nitrox and the White one for the Rich/O2.

I figured Id buy the best I could afford and felt the attention to detail plus the well earned reputation was a good indicator. Also they do seem to last forever so I was not worried about the costs of servicing. I also liked the way they seemed to have engineered them specifically for the gasses I use and the extream depth rating they get. And they are colour coded, small and light and left/right handed.

Borrow somones and have a go, but bear in mind some regs sensetivity is affected by how well they are set up.

I'd like to add that Scubapro Mk20's are also good to 102m, as were my Apexs deco regs.

For deco, I particularly like having a first stage with rotating turret, it make hose routing much more comfortable, especially on those long stops.

I use Apeks TX40s with 1m hoses so that they can be used from either side. Dead good regs.

Another vote for TX40's on a DS4 first stage. I use them on my deco and bottom gas bottles. No problems so far.

Well I think its clear, you have a choice between Apeks, Scubapro or Poseidons. Me, I use cyklons all round for the same reasons as Juz.

But, there are some disadvantages going the Poseidon route - costs and availability, non standard interstage pressures and therefore non-standard hoses. You won't have this problem if you choose Apeks/Scubapro.

Its a pity Apeks don't do a modern Poseidon-like reg (ie not right or left handed) - the choice then would be simple.

I use a mixture of TX40s and OMS deco regs. The OMS regs are not great regs but are cheap and good for 18m upwards (or 21 depending on your max ppO2).

Used Cyklons for years, they were great, then had some Xtreams for a while which are not bad. Only criticism is that the front cover comes off really easy, so I lost one at 80 odd metres recently as the seabed was at 100 or so and I was ascending. Bit of a pain in the knackers that one.

They used to but it wasn't that great
