I have to say that I just love this sort of challenge and I would have had a crack at it 15years ago if I had been able to devote the time and money I do now to diving and was wife and child free.

I suggest the deep air element of the diving was to prepare for the high END's they use to avoid HPNS symptoms on decent and not for any other reason.

Shit happens when you’re trying to plan and execute something like this. Its one of those situations where you know next time you will do it differently. The fact he coped with the problems he was presented with and he got out of the water fit and healthy is testament to his skill and ability. The fact he was level headed enough to blow off the deep stops and sort it out once he had available gas to play games again shows good solid thinking.

When it goes tits up as it often does on the more challenging dives (Murphy’s Law) its dealing with it that sorts the good diver from the wannabe.

Again all credit for the frank and honest reporting as well.

Is he an idiot? Yes of course he is. He should have blown the dive after the free flows but people who think like that probably wouldn’t attempt it in the first place.

Fancy diving a wreck with my name on it, WITHOUT SEEKING MY PERMISSION FIRST!

What has the world come to.

Cheers,

Dave Cooper.
Furthermore I have sent a snotty email to the Yanks, suggesting that as this vessel was sunk by the Japs, it should not even carry the Cooper name in the first place.

I have suggested it be forthwith renamed the USS Sherlock!!

Ha ha ha!!

Serious head on. My thoughts are with the crew members who gallantly gave their lives for us.

Cheers,

Dave Cooper.

Fair enough if you ask me. I've had regs freeflow and shut down and got them back online and been able to carry on with dives, if you know why it's happened and that won't be happening again then it's not an issue. Like my possy that likes to blow a bit sometimes when it's dry. Once you get it nice and wet it behaves itself, so I just shut down and reopen. Always does the trick.

I don't much like the idea of a single AL80 after 2 freeflows, I'd have my mind on the likelihood of similar happening again! Mind you, it wouldn't be the end of the world if he had his head screwed on.

Makes me think that in fact it wouldn't be that hard to do it myself, I've got an attitude fairly similar to this guy I reckon ANd Phil I'll happily use your twins and stages, but I'll be wanting to keep them once I'm done!!!

Digs.
