Anyone know a source for 7l Luxfer aluminium cylinders?

Hi guys,

I'm trying to get hold of a new 7l ally cylinder for use as a sideslung for a few deeper dives I'm doing. As I'm not nitrox-certified (yet), I'm going to just fill it with air, and swap to it when my main cylinder's a little low.

However, it seems there's a bit of a shortage of them at present. Does anybody know if any dive stores that can send by mail have any in stock? If they are within reach of Reading, Berks, I can collect though!

Cheers,

David

Try Brett at Divelife. I think he had the last 25 that there were. He's the ony place I know of right now, and I think he might have sold out, as the ones I saw last time weren't there last week.

Digs.

Hi Digger,

He's sold out - solid chap though, did offer to lend me one (he'd even post it to me!) in the meantime til he got them in.

John - I did actually order one from Diver's Warehouse, but JohnW phoned me and said he was out of stock til the end of the month.

As usual, I'm on a tight schedule due to poor planning - I'm after the cylinder for this weekend, so was a bit disappointed to find nobody's got one. Not sure if the 5.7litre ones are big enough for my purposes though...

David

Apparently they are on back order from the factory. I think it will be a case of when one shop has them they will all have them as the factory will have pulled it's finger out.

You would have thought they would have done a bit better at keeping up with demand, I think you will just have to wait it out to get one

they are decreasing the production numbers on the 3's and 7's and increasing the production numbers on the 40's and 80's, so they will be available but they will be harder and harder to find

Seems that there's plenty of the 5.7 litre ones about, just the 7's that are missing.

Bah, still no luck as yet. I've got the regs sorted, and the stage mounting kit, but no cylinder yet

I suppose a 5.7 might just about do. What does everyone use as a medium-sized stage these days?

David
