Apeks Quantum Deco Times

Hi,

I am looking for some info from people who have experience of performing deco diving with the quantum.

Apologies if this is not written perfectly, having trouble saying what I wanna say !

I am looking for info on two things without having to actually try every permutation myself.

1) What kind of general %age increase in deco time (or %age decrease in allowed bottom time) do you get when you change the safety setting from zero to one. I know that the safety factor is achieved by just assuming you are diving at a higher altitude but I am trying to find out what actual difference it makes to dive times / deco times.

2) I am looking for some examples of dives people have done or any 'rule of thumb's anyone has come up with around how much deco time is knocked off when performing the gas switch - from say 30% bottom gas to 50% deco gas or whatever anyone has examples or experience of.

Thanks in advance of any help.

If there are any other tips / tricks / observations (constructive ones !!) about the Quantum I would be keen to hear them.
I know about the reliability issues they have had in the past and that gauge mode can easily be slipped into by mistake.

No idea as I find it more than conservative enough compared to my old green Cochran Commander without setting it to altitude.

If you're on a weak mix, i.e. less than about 30% and switch to 80% at 9m, the deco is pretty much halved. It gives you more credit for switching than my buddy's Vytec does.

I've only ever knocked it into gauge mode once. It's not that easy to do.

ended up doing a reset for my 2nd dive - luckily i had stayed above buddies for the first so didnt need to abort - and as it had no deco data anyway.....

Why not just change the SF and run different mixes through the PLAN mode?
