V Planner Settings

Hi Folks

I'm having my first play with the V Planner deco software and want to check the software settings.

If I enter a simple dive such as..

30 Meters for 40mins on 32% back gas with a deco mix of 50% I get

Decompression model: VPM - B

DIVE PLAN
Surface interval = 1 day 0 hr 0 min.
Elevation = 0m
Conservatism = + 2

Dec to 30m (2) Nitrox 32 15m/min descent.
Level 30m 38:00 (40) Nitrox 32 1.27 ppO2, 24m ead
Asc to 21m (41) Nitrox 32 -9m/min ascent.
Asc to 6m (42) Nitrox 50 -9m/min ascent.
Stop at 6m 8:20 (51) Nitrox 50 0.80 ppO2, 0m ead
Surface (51) Nitrox 50 -9m/min ascent.

Off gassing starts at 17.3m

OTU's this dive: 65
CNS Total: 23.8%

3160.6 ltr Nitrox 32
355.1 ltr Nitrox 50
3515.7 ltr TOTAL

DIVE PLAN COMPLETE

Is this correct ? What conservatism setting do you use ?

Before anyone asks I am currently doing my Adv Nitrox/Deco course with Mr Powell which finishes tomorrow

Cheers

Simon

V-planner

Have you set the configuration yet this gives you your personel settings sac rate conservatism etc?

Good move! You would have been flamed down in a blaze of glory

Nothing to add to the thread though I'll go away now

No kept the default SAC rate which is worst case scenario anyway, more interested in the dive time and stops required than gas usage.

I use +2 which I believe is default(?)
I also have a few user-configured settings wth regards to last stop, ascent/descent rate etc. It could be worthwhile to look at those after you´ve done a few dives to see if the defaults actually match what you do in the water.

I tend to play with the conservatism settings once in a while to compare nominal, +2, +5 etc. I think it´s a worthwhile exercise as it gives you an idea about what could be cut in an emergency and how much "extra" time you spend in the water...

I tend to add a few minutes "here and there" (depending on the dive) to my +2 as well, within reason, it´s about getting out "clean" vs. getting out "fast"...

ymmv

Cheers for your reply, I have been playing with generating a backup plan which is deeper, longer and deeper & longer combined.
Just wanted to check that my results were similar to others.
