Hi

Does anyone know what, if any, tables GUE recommends for recreational diving?  Or are the common ones (padi, bsac whatever) considered ok?  Any reasons for the above?

cheers

GUE teach a few simple rules for working out deco in your head.  It wasn't the best bit of the course.

There are couple of bits of software available from GUE for working out deco shedules.  There are others on the 'net that do the same thing.

<font color='#0000FF'>Hi

Buhlmann air tables with 30/90 gradient factors. They are then modified according to gas used equivalent air depth and the profile is adjusted etc. DIR fundamentals covers it a little but Tech1 is where it is more fully explained.

For recreational diving ie no deco then there are guidelines to modify the ascent and the safety stop but you will need to go on a DIRF course to find out more.

You can print them out with Decoplanner.

Hmmm...I did the fundamentals course before it was a cert. course, and the no-deco thing was glossed-over, probably cos I was the only guy with a single tank.

ah well, I'll have a look for decoplanner. &nbsp;Just like to know the &quot;why&quot; rather than just the &quot;what&quot;.

would it help if I got the tech 1 course book?

cheers

Decoplanner is my favourite way of planning deco. If you want to know the why you have to learn GFs and M values to understand basic deco and bubble mechanics if you want to be a total nerd.

I still struggle with bubble mechanics but I seem to have got being a dive nerd of to a fine art &nbsp;

My advice would be start safe and see how you feel. 20-80gf is a good starting point then try a bit more aggressive and see if you feel better or worse. I was running 35-85 until I met Andrew and he asked me to run 20-80 or 10-80. I felt so much better after the dives that I run these profiles all the time now. The one DIR thing that makes perfect since is the additional time at 21m when using 50% only for deco. Extending the 21m stop to take advantage of the high PP02 is a good move if your going to be on a low PP02 on the 6 &amp; 9 m stops. I don’t use 50% much for deco but if I did I would do this.

Is this the best way to spread the word? if the system was the safest in the world etc etc why isnt this sort of information more freely available? &nbsp;
