Hi Mark

It took a while but I got the answer to the above. The "ascent time" on the Vytec is limited to a viewable 99 minuits and when the calculated ascent time goes over this, the screen displays (- -) but does not loose track of the calculations, they stay in the background and you still get a notification of your deepest stop. When the Vytec has calculated less that 99 minuits of ascent time left, the figures re-appear and continue to count down normaly as deco decreases. Again, for my type of diving this will never be a problem, as I will never be in a position where I get over an hour and a half of deco, but if your into that kind of thing at least you know it still works.

Surely you don't mean DIR could be DIW?

No, I am just absolutly with Chasey on this one, we have both had somewhat uncomfortable experiences at the bottom, clear and consise thought was simply not an option, indeed, finding a part of your vision that is not obscured by a stange flashing geometric pattern (only those who have had a migrane will be able to relate to that one) to look at your computer is hard enough.

???? My one showes 199 mins of deco at 33mins and -- at 35mins at 60m? After that You start to ascend but it all stayes blank for a long time. I only ever dived it set on Air to 60m once and I was down between 60 and 65 for 40mins. It didnt like it at all . Now I just use it on gauge mode.

Bent Vytec ;(

Hello all,

just came from my dive and ended up bending my vytec! the problem was that I was on a runtime and going up to 15m stop and change gas. The Vytec wanted me to stay at 17m of which i ahd already stopped at 18m. The Vytec kept bleeping and pinting down to descent, but as It still was going time and depth, no problem. then it turned to (--), but to tell you the truth I didn't change gas when it was (--) and then changed to ERR. then I tried to chage gas maybe it can recover but it changed gas and stayed ERR. I didn't bother to check for the asc. depth! Maybe I will take more care next time, but in this type of diving my tabels and runtime have my priorty.

James, it's true I lve my 18l but for this kind of dives I use his big brother twin 12's and a 10l stage.

regards

Pierre

Red face Dive Profile

Hello,

Here you should have the dive's profile. Dive was done on air and 65%, 83min Rt. Today I was amazed that the VR3 running on air and my profile from proplanner runing air and 65% finished before Vr3 by 5min altough we still did it a saftey.

Hi Mark

My Vytec shows 199 mins of "no deco" but only 99 mins of "ascent" time when you try it. Posibly a software upgrade/glitch?

Glad you took the larger cylinders, I knew you would. The profile looks suspiciously like HMS Stubborn? is it? Naughty, naughty for bending your computer, thats the trouble with tables, they will do that to a computer, two computers are ok though, you just wait for the second to catch up.

Glad you had a good dive.

Just an aside...
there are probably some who might want to follow this thread but hit a wall with the unexplained abbreviations eg VPM-B (wazzat ???) I've heard of RGBM but what's RGBM100 ?

Mark, a very well written piece, but maybe there's call for an intro to the intro piece?
