    which deco software?

    Hi,

for no other reason than interest, wondered what software folk are using, and maybe why?

I used to used proplanner, but when I was introduced to decoplanner, I found it much easier to use. Decoplanner just looks easy, and the stops are all at the increments I want them to be.

I've tried another one, but found it really difficult to do simple things like get it to use the gases I wanted it to use. I can't remember what it was, but no doubt it will come back to me later.

I've used Proplanner, Decoplanner, Drogon Dive Planner and V-Planner....I tend to stick to V-Planner now as I'm familiar with it and I understand it better than the others

Another vote for V planner. When I started deco diving it seemed that everyone else was using it without getting bent, and I like safety in numbers as opposed to being a human guinea pig. Now I have used it for a while I know it suits me, I understand it, and wouldn't want to start again with another program.

It also runs on PDA, a key feature as I don't always take my laptop on a diving trip.

Someone with no knowledge of deco software and a complete technophobe could pick up a copy of Decoplanner and be producing deco schedules with it within 15 mins. Extremely intuitive and easy IMO. Nice to have Buhlmann and VPM-B side by side and be able to switch between the two at a click and compare profiles

Deco planner does VPM and Buhlman with Gradient factors.

But i mainly use it because its the easiest to use and best software for dive planning, CNS planning Gas planning bailout planing etc.

It doesn't do CCR. But I never plan CCR dives. Only the bailout which is OC

I own V-Planner as well but I find the plan layouts less intuitive and i cant understand VPM deco profiles so i tend not to use them. I only ever use Planner if i am mapping out a very big CCR dive and want some feed back on run times.

Ill still plan the bailout on Decoplanner and i wont cut tables with it just get a mental picture of limits.

None of the deco planning software options out there will bend you. Only you will bend you. You can force the software to do that on all of the decompresion planning options out there.

Run V-planner on level 0 and I reckon it will bend most people sooner or later.

Run Decoplanner on 100/100GF and it will do the same

Run Vplanner on level 3 VPMB-E and I reckon you will be just as safe as running Decoplanner on 20/85GF

I always used to use deco-planner but when I went to CCR I Started using DecoChek. It is free to 40m and only cost me when I took the CCR below that. I now use it for both OC & CCR planning.

What ever the GF uses ! I have not bothered planning a dive since my Trimix course , just ask the skipper how long I can do ! Once I start going deeper then I will start using planning software but down to 50-55M for 45mins worked out at 75mins of ascent & deco on the Vision
