Just a little nervous about this post -as lots of people out there know more than me.

I was an occasional Trimix diver (3 to 4 dives a year) so I was happy to vary the mix depending on the estimated depth of the dive. I used V planner a lot, and played with the numbers balancing END and cost of the mix. For what it's worth 21/35 did come out a lot.

As for deco I would use 80% (1 gas only) for dives less than 55m. For deeper I would add a cylinder of 40%, again the decision was made by comparing the run times v planner gave me and balancing and amount of deco versus the faff of 2 stages.

    Worked for me

When I was OC, back gas tended to be 20/40.

Deco gas was 80% and travel gas was whatever my last deco gas air topped to 200 bar was - typically 32-36%.

I found the most flexible and cost effective method was accepting a range of gases and cuttting bespoke plans.

If diving for a weeked, I might go rich on the Sat dive (20/50) and air top for Sun.

Same with deco - what works, works.
