Arrow DiFF on safety

In response to a couple of questions I have been asked.

Just a note to make it clear - as it will in the manifesto which will always be available at the top of the DiFF forum, that DiFF is utterly and absolutely about having fun both above and below water SAFELY.

Respect for the water, and the safety aspect of our chosen sport is paramount (as is having fun) - can two things be paramount, I'm not sure.

Anyway, diving as far as I can see is about being on a contstant learning curve - learning more skills, gaining confidence in the water, learning through experience, meeting other divers, attending courses, constantly developing your skills to become...

A better F**cking diver.

Being DiFF isn't about being irresponsible - it's about being able to laugh at ourselves, as much as each other - and diving safely whilst having fun. Playing games underwater - the kind that DiFF will promote - will also have benefits of improving your skills underwater..whilst injecting a firm sense of enjoyment into the proceedings.

Weather permitting at Abbs - golf ball and spoon championships will not only be a test of your ability to act like an idiot - but if you think about it - bloody good neutral buoyancy practice...so, fear not campers....we are not out to promote anything other than fun, safe diving, with a very firm injection of irony, stupidity, and rainbow colours thrown in for good measure.

That's why I carry a waterproof notebook. Now a waterproof PSP would be very cool!

Why not?
They're plastic & waterproof!
And the travel versions would fit in a BC pocket....

It's another of those things where the only thing to do is to try it out!
I've always been a "I wonder what happens if you press this big red button" sort of people....

Incidentally, any and all suggestions of things to do to make safety stops more interesting gratefully received.....

Wisefish & I did try out Fisherman, lobster, octopuss - bit like stone, paper, scissors but with an aquatic bent - and it was OK, but did get a bit confusing as we couldn't remember what beat what, or in fact, what the hand signs for them all were.....But in theory it was a solid start....

IIRC i think they float.

I vagually remember someone saying that they had stuck pennies on one side on the pieces or was that for the big version not the travel one. cos the little pieces on the travel one might not fit down the slots if they've got pennies on them..... hmmmmmmmmmmmm?
