| I went on a night dive down in Falmouth with my then girlfriend as a buddy. She'd just bought a spiffy new semi-dry with 'Oceanic' written down the leg in large friendly letters. 10 minutes into the dive, my primary reg hose sprung a huge leak. I looked over and saw 'Oceanic' in my torch light. Good job really, 'cos at that moment my torch went out. I grabbed at my buddy, caught hold of her BCD strap and got her torch in my face. I signalled I was OOA and had an octopus shoved at me. We were only in 8-9m, so we made a fairly quick ascent. On the surface, it was pitch black. I was so relieved to be there, I pulled her mask off and gave her a big kiss. The thought then struck me, 'I don't remember her having a beard?' I'd surfaced with another diver who just happened to have an Oceanic suit on. That took some explaining....

| I have two incidents of note. Thought I would get them in first before Garf does! Garf and I arranged a training weekend at Stoney early this year. We both kitted up, walked down to the bus stop and waited our turn to jump in. Garf goes in, then my turn. With a twinset and stage, I stand on the edge, check my entry point is clear and start the movement forward to stride in. The moment I lifted my left leg and made the movement forward (the point of no return) I knew something was up. Then the realization hit me like a juggernaut. From this very moment I could be heard all across the lake shouting F**********************ck through my reg. As I entered the water I noticed that my descent wasn't abating as quickly as it should. Down and down and down I went... I wasn't unduly worried as the bottom is only a few meters, then slowly my descent was arrested and I started ascending to the surface. Upon reaching the surface I looked around to see if anyone had noticed what had gone on. Don't think so. Now I had a dilemma, to tell Garf or try to blag it. As trying to blag it would entail, removing my stage, exiting the water, walking up the steps, struggling to open the boot of my car with my keys inside my suit, getting FINS out of boot, walking back to the bus stop and putting fins on and jumping back in, I decided to risk it and tell him. I don't know why, but he started babbling on about Formula 1, all I could make out him saying through his reg was something about James Hunt..? The second one relates to an open zip moment at Wraysbury. Nothing major so we don't need to talk about this one!

| Whilst down on the Missouri ... Myself and three friends were diving on the Missouri one Sunday afternoon, back when Martin of ADTC used to do a rib charter. It was a lovely summers day and the first pair entered the water closely followed by my buddy and I, we had a really good long dive with excellent vis and I was feeling really happy and a bit mischievous. We returned back to the shot and I could see the first pair already 3/4 up the shot line, so I proceeded to vigorously ring the shot line like a church bell while doing Quazi Modo impressions through my reg, the pair looked down at me very puzzled, then came down ... only they weren't my friends from our boat .. and it wasn't our shot line ... While we were down another boat had arrived and dropped another pair in, needless to say my cheeks were a little sun burned back on the boat.
