l don't think it does, as far as l'm concerned DIFF encompasses all divers of any agency.
It doesn't include the ones that think they are superior to others, this is not aimed at any agency, they all have the type of diver l'm referring to.

I just don't see it as useful behaviour. If you genuinely feel there is a divide or a degree of superiority from another individual (which seems to be what's come about) rarely is the best approach to draw attention to the differences and poke fun. If you someone genuinely wanted to improve the situation then listening and understanding on both sides is much more likely to improve the situation. I guess it depends on your goal. Do you want to reduce the divide? Or do you want to draw attention to it and exercerbate the situation?

I'm surprised if people felt that DIR's presence on YD wasn't welcoming. Certainly when I was a non-DIR diver and was curious about it all I found the people on YD really friendly. Unfortunately Diff is an about retaliation to a person afront so I don't see it as helpful.

TBH - I don't usually read the Diff forum. I do however think it's worth pointing out that as a strategy "so we can all get along" - it really ain't working!

Exactly. DiFF pokes a bit of fun at each and every diver who has his / her head shoved up his / her arse and takes themselves far far too seriously, and thinks they're better than other people / divers...... I don't think it divides anyone, unless they are having a sense of humour failure..... and I don't understand how anyone could think that it would 'further that sense of distance' as per Al. I don't think it does - not if you take it in the way that it's meant - not agency specific, but as above.

And I really don't think that anyone's complained about it (the divide) as such - I'm certainly not one of life's complainers. I'm more of a doer you see.....so, I've just gone "Look it that divide, isn't that weird / stupid / kind of sad" lets point it out and be amused by it, and a load of other people have gone, yeah.......and in the back of my mind, I guess I always think, maybe the dark side'll have a look at it too (the divide, and how they appear to the majority of us other divers out here beyond the Borg)...

Currently though, people still seem to be getting in a huff........
