| I went for Padi I went for Padi - because at the time it was cheaper and quicker - also I dont need to clear my dives with anyone prior to diving. Also because their are no subs for my club - its very informal and anyone PADI or BSAC is welcome, No problems with BSAC though - might do a cross over when I stop being poor |

| I went for PADI because it was convenient, I was in Australia, and I had the time. Price wasn't something I considered nor were values and standards. I just wanted to dive. Did some great dives on the course and did three days on a boat on the barrier reef a couple of weeks later as a qualified diver! I am a big fan of the pick and mix variety of courses. The fact that it is commercial is immaterial to me and isn't a criticism that has any value really. There are no ties to any one PADI school other than what I choose to make and there is a system in place to report poor training practices. I do plan to look at joining a BSAC club in the near future but for no other reason than a convenient means of doing some more diving. Jim

| I am BSAC trained but member of both BSAC and PADI club. I joined the PADI club which is attached to my LDS i get 10% discount on any shiney bits i purchase and I get 20 free air fills and weekly pool nights. I have only used it for free fills and discount so far. My BSAC membership pays for pool fees, training packs and use of equipment if I needed it. The BSAC club also has regular weekend dives and its good for the social aspect and diving information and advice. |

| Hi Scapaman,[cool name BTW] I'm BSAC and PADI with a couple of others thrown in, but I have to say do you have experience of BSAC divers refusing to dive with Padi trained divers? because I reckon this is an urban myth put about by people unable to cultivate beards ![]() Safe diving, Steve
