Gas in the bowel is not under pressure as the bowel dilates to accommodate the expanding volume until it is released! therefore it doesn't make any difference whether it is in your suit or in your bowel.. However, if you manged to compress a couple of litres into a cylinder and hooked it up to your drysuit??? well thats food for thought!

Ahh yes but that would change your total displacement volume surely. That would therefore have an effect on buoyancy.....

Ah but when the gas is in your intestine, the increase in intestinal volume is compensated for by the compression of other structures and gas spaces within the peritoneal cavity so overall bouancy is unaffected. But when you do a trouser cough in your suit, the increased gas pressure will proportionately affect your suit volume and hence, according to Archimedes principle render you more positively bouyant.

If you ate the correct diet would it be possible to control buoyancy (using a dry suit) just by farting and dumping?
Due to you have to keep getting buddy to pull your finger!

Also no one would volunteer to unzip you after the dive

Well done - that was my point but you put it much better. Now, what if you have an auto dump....?

Can I take it those exhaust bubbles combined with no decrease in depth mean only on thing....

Poor fish.
