Sport Diver Fin review

This months sport diver fin review -

"Turtles - like two planks of wood, heavy and cumbersome"

"Aqualung blades2- useful quick release on the fin strap so that you can get your foot out quickly and easily"

Looks like the benefits of having a fin which can fall off are more important that being able to move through the water??????

I really have owned and tried every make of fin under the sun, quattros, splits, tusas, cressis - you name it. My turtles are the nuts - I'd never change them. Admittedly - I don't use a flutter kick much - but even when I do - they're fine - much less hard work than quattros.
Wetsuits and drysuits - the turtles are here to stay

I have to say that of the bigger, heavier, fins I much prefer the middle ground that the Northern Diver Jetfin clone occupy than something like the turtle, but as with everything else, its all a case of what suits you and your type of diving. So which fin actually won ?

(I'm guesing that as its a magazine, and hence sometimes following fashion/advertising, that something like the Force fins won)

oceanic V12 split fins won best choice "the carpet slipper of fins"- similar to an apollo bio-fin. To quote "useless for frog kicks but comfortable and light"

Personally I think the turtles are a better bet but each to their own

Maybe a couple of years ago they did a review on Beaver's Jet fins and they had he same sort of review. Though I remember they also complained that they were old fashioned and much preferred the nice modern split fins in the review group.

I thought after they got Mark Powell to do a series of tech articles that they may have widened their ideas a bit - but obviously not

(Please note: I have no problem with split fins or any other fins that suit individuals, it was just an example of them being blinkered)
