Thanks for the reply Tom, I do understand what you mean about the shuttle boats, but as David said, its just a different type of diving.
However, I actually find the shuttle boat diving more relaxing than a day charter personally. Although I have to be there at a certain time twice instead of once etc, I can really relax on shore between the dives, wander off and get a bite to eat and a coffee etc, instead of being stuck on the boat for hours on end. I know that sounds like I don't like boats, which is only partially true, I don't mean it to sound like that, but I am more relaxed when I can wander around and have a laugh.
Mind you, my shutle experiences have been at Swanage and Portland where you can wander around and chat to other divers etc, which always makes it more interesting.
Maybe you can sort out a schedule which includes some of each, as I am hoping to do some shuttling out of Weymouth/Portland this summer but with all the changes it looks like there will be a lot less boats doing that kind of diving, which I think is a shame.

wow! that is an interesting point! i mean, if we do trips out of weymouth, that are close, then sure, we can always come back into the harbour to refill tanks, and grab a snack! the thing is if we go west of portland, then come back to harbour, then want to do some wicked drift dive off the ariels (west of portland) that add's an extra hour of travelling each way, and 10 miles, so thats 20, and 20x3 ltrs of fuel = 60 ltrs x 56p a litre = £33.6 extra on the fuel bill! which actually doesnt seem to bad! but when we're west side, and its a nice day, do you not enjoy sitting in the flat calm in the sunshine (sounds great doesnt it, it's just those days are just a little bit less than rare!) even though i do try my best to find a gentle spot! but for sure! trips local to weymouth, if the divers prefer i can always bring the boat back in! the only thing with shuttling is if i have a full boat for the morning, but only a few people want to do the second dive, the boat then goes out at a loss, and then i'll get beasted by the boat owner!!haha! im gonna have more of a think on this subject! as i said before, this years for experimentation, so i'll should at least try all these things!!! what you think??
