Evolve

I really cannot see the problem with the Evolve and the Mk25s I use this set up and have none of the problems you seem to have!!!!!..Its a pity your so far away..
Justa thought ,don't get pissed with me..are you trying to run All the hoses over the top/front of the wing with the wing stuffed behind the hoses ???

THe top of the wing should fold over on its self when connected to the backplate then the regs added ...do I make sense here

Some times I have the impression that the idea of DIR diving was built around "Johnson and Johnson or else".

My point of view is simply my point of view!!!

Questions must always be asked regardless of mine or anybody else’s point of view.

Additionally one should not be so offensive because I could return the question as follows...

Because I have an unusual point of view am I not allowed to express it here?

Which way is the right way up then?

Does it matter which way up you mount the MK25? An earlier post mentioned the 'bottom port' which suggests that port goes at the bottom. However, mounted on a single cylinder on an M25 valve there is very little clearance between the 'bottom' port and the shoulder of the cylinder. If you wanted to use the port, you would have to mount the MK25 the other way up.

I can't see any reason why this would be 'wrong', so is it just a matter of personal preference or is there a 'right' way and a 'wrong' way?

The pictures on the Scubapro website don't show the first stage actually on a cylinder - and it's sideways - so the 'bottom' port is at right angles - so that's not much help

Any views???

Yes - on a twinset it would be ridiculous to mount these 1st stages any other way than that shown in the photo.

On a single you could mount them with the turret at the top.

On a single tank I rig my Mk20/25 with the end port at the bottom, but the reg at a slight angle, so the long hose comes out the end port and heads off down the RHS of the cylinder.

Have you tried using the turret upside down (compared to the conventional position)? I have 2 MK20s and have dived with mine upside down for years.

Also, did I notice "DIR" in your post? I have a bit of trouble with hose routing because I have so many damn hoses (FFM/gas switch) but, given the DIR philosophy of MORE=MORE RISK I would have thought the hose positioning would be real easy?

If I did see DIR you will not want to consider 'elbows/swivels'. I have used several in order to try to keep any hose from sticking out sideways from behind my head.

If you can stand the criticism .....erm ..... I mean friendly advice ..... maybe a picture of your current set up (all attached to cylinder(s)) would doubtless give you some good info from the BSAC elite.

Apologies if a phrase springs to your mind involving the words grandmother and eggs and sucking.

Thumbs up Scubapro MK25

Thanks for all the tips from everybody.

I have played around with the regs a little and think I have resolved it. MK25 are now at 45degrees with long hose coming over the top of wing and infront of wing. Looks like this is the only way to run it with an evolve as behind the wing won't stay put underneath canister torch. Left hand side has backup (right handed) and drysuit/Hp guage. Again running over the top (slightly). I will try and post a photo tonight. Love the evolve just have to play around with a few things.

S600's are lovely but I now have two D400 sitting around as spares- too good to use as deco so might have to ebay unless its worth holding on to them? I have R190's and R290s for deco rig so no problem here. Might keep them as single rig regs- certainly they breathe very well - though I think its going to get hard to get parts for them.

Seriously thanks everybody- I really appreciate you help and comments. Will be having a play on wednesday night so will see how new set up trims out in the water
