| I have ATX 50s - the TX regs are a bit of a pain when stowing on a stage as the exhausts are a bit big - but then I know people who prefer them. 40s are OK if you need to save some money - if you get one of each put the 50 on your necklace as it can be wound down more easily. If I started again (or money was no object) I'd get Scubapro regs though - the routing is much nicer.

| Mk 25's have good hose routing, and are pretty dependable, but seem to have sprouted a huge amount of parts in them now. When they first came out as the Mk 20's it was just the piston with 1 o-ring on the top and 1 at the bottom on the HP seat. Then came the attempts to cure cold fresh water problems, which they still haven't managed to do, and the plethora of parts. If you dive in salty stuff they are good, but rinse well as they are exposed to all the grit/salt. This is from a Scubapro piston fan! I have 6 Mk 25/20/10's myself! If not, look at the Mk 17, but it probably doesn't have any particular advantages over the Apeks. As has been said, the newer SP 2nds have plastic parts, and don't seem to last as well as the older metal barrelled ones. Old G250's, the G500 and early S600's had metal air barrels. The various R models ( R190, R380, R395 etc ) all have a simple downstream unbalanced poppet design, and are good as the backup regs, tough and cheap as chips. I'm not DIR, but the DIR hose routing is good with the Mk 20/25's, and Scubapro's are pretty good regs, if pricey to service at times, but that shouldn't worry you ...... you have Poseidons, anything will be cheaper after them!! Regards |

| I find the ATX gives a much nicer breath than the XTX (both 50s) Strange that really - would have thought the "newer" model would have been nicer. Personal taste I guess. Upshot is that the XTX is now my octo/backup reg. I also like the breath on the TX40, but I find it to be a bit large |

| That's easy, buy another pair of Cyklons
