Question Regs but which ones

A bit of an IF question really.

If I eventually decided to change my trusty cyklons which regulators would be the recommendation.

Can you hear an echo round here?

Except I didn't say TX because they are a bit big and clumsy. I said ATX, or XTX with the caveat that I have never even seen an XTX so have no idea how big it is.

I'm buying my first set early next year - I was thinking of the XTX50?

XTX are about the same size as the TX, with a smaller purge button that I don't think I'd go for with thick gloves on. The TX on the other hand is a lovely piece of engineering which just works, and keeps working, you treat it like crap and it keeps working, in fact I don't think I've ever managed to break one. Which is quite something.

Tha ATX would be alright as bailout or as an octo etc., but for using them all the time I'd go for a TX.

Oh, and you might as well have 40s. They're the same as 50s but without the knob to spoil all the hard work setting them up right

Digs.

What digger said, i have atx 200 and tx20 second stages. The exhaust of the tx is much better, the bubbles don't go straight infront of your face like they do with the atx. The tx is bigger but easily liveable with

.
Why do you say that? I have never had any issues with my ATX's. Worked for years without touching them. Takes me fiddling around with cleaning out the internals once in a while and reseating the diaphragm, then lobbing them back in the kit box, or dragging it around on the end of the long hose.

The TX is just big. I tried them and found them uncomfortably large, so that means I would just hate using them, hence the ATX (we were buying as they were just bedding in the ATX sales so it was a simple choice between the two - everywhere sold both).

For twinset use, personally I'd go for the Apeks DS4 1st stages with ATX50 second stages (mainly 'cause I like the shiny bits on them. ) Don't bother spending any more money on the ATX100 or 200 varients as you're not gonna get any real benefit!

Never been a big fan of the TX regs as I found they used to give me jaw ache. Not that impressed by the newer XTX 2nds either as I think they're over engineered - give me a nice lightweight, simple ATX reg any day. I've got about five sets which get used on stage & deco bottles, my twinset and my singles rig. Can't beat 'em!

That said, I'd probably choose a Scubapro MK25 1st stage over the DS4 for a singles rig - the hose routing is much nicer! Someone on here did mention that Apeks are bringing out some new 'Tek3' 1st stages designed specifically for twinset divers but I'll be darned if I can find out any more about them! It could all be bollards...

Breathe easy

My Scubaflow mk25 and s600 give me the nicest breathe still. I now have a set for single cylinder use, and a second set on the twinset. With the R380 as a second regulator on both sets, and for stages/pony setups.
I have access to various club regs (Apex, Aqualung, & Scubapro )in my garage and the s600 is the best by far.
Not exactly the cheapest option.......

Are we twins? I have MK25s/S600/R390 for my twins and have just put together second hand a set of MK25/S600/R390 for singles. I love the MK25/S600s.
