Just to add:

turtle fins are suitable for divers who use a thin 'gates' type boot (the boot with the thin sole and thin walls) and have a very big foot - male 11 or above

- OR - for divers who have the thicker Othree neoprene boot size 9+

if you are a smaller 'gates' boot ( <11's) or othree boot (<9) - then I would not consider turtle fins - purely because the foot pocket is built to be wider than the rest.

IIRC - I believe Scubapro have recently looked at increasing their range to bring in a larger foot pocket fin?

As always - try before you buy.. (Apparently I have a set of Mark Chase cast offs.. )

Just don't like to spend more than I have to. I have started with Mares Avanti just like most of us, so I still have something that I can use, but the frog kick is a nightmare in these.

because they of course flex in the water on the reset stroke.

Beaver now do 2 types of jetfin- the original ones (I use them) that are identical to the ND ones and a new type (the Assault) that are similar to the Scubapro/Turtle ones. The foot pocket on the XXL Assaults are massive- I could almost wear one as a hat.

I use XXL Predators with size 10 wellie-type boots and neoprene undersocks.

I found the XXL Beaver/Ndiver ones to be fine, but just had a bit of trouble getting them off. The turtles are the same in the water pretty much (though I do seem to get off a bit faster without so much effort) but are the easiest fins to remove I've ever used, including my previously very easy to remove Quattros.

Digs.
