I think this means that they are allowed to keep diving in the range the 'full pass' would have given them. Unless ive risread..

Either way, congratulations! Great report and a fantastic effort both on the course and logistically to prepare for it!

Indeed it could - but that was not what was meant by the outcome.

Provisional - or limited pass - can mean pretty much whatever the instructor wants it to mean rather than a full pass which is pretty much unlimited (GUE exploration divers on Grom and similar projects in the 100 metre range are currently only required to be Tech 2).

In our case Jarrod was confident that we were safe in the range with mulpitle gasses and reasonable amounts of deco and the way forward for the team was to do more to get comfortable. The additional experience that this diving will bring will help add the polish that he needs to see before an unlimited cert is given.

Anyways - it was a fun week and thanks to a terrorist threat stopping JJ carrying hand baggage back to the states I'm now the proud owner of a new stealth set up and some Jetfins which have been rather further back in a cave than I will ever get to go

with the amount of money you tell us your spending on diving, I thought you could have afforded some brand new fins Clare

what does an unlimited cert mean, ie depth unlimited? any gas? any deco?

You need an ANDI cert for this.

If you lot all put your goggles on with the glass bits at the front you'll find you can see really well underwater.

well written but then I expect no less from someone who is so passionate about diving. The training speaks volumes and I feel that my training path may change in the near future.

You can see really well in front of you - but that's not where those sneaky GUE instructors attack you from

So does that mean you go for a course get a limited because what ever reason you can swim etc and then just carry on diving in that range because you have done it once or twice?

and does this mean with the limited pass can you only dive with "your team" and not with others ? and once you get this Unlimited Cert you can just dive to the sea bed "or hover just above it"

genuine question as i am interested? and it is a good sales ploy to get you back for extra fee's or dont you have to pay for it again?

Not sure I totally understand Grahame but no, there will not be any charge for a re-evaluation for any of us. Had we failed the course and had to take it again then there would of course have been a charge for this.

GUE believes in diver development and will look to find the best way to achieve this in individual cases. If further 'instruction' is seen to be required then this may mean that taking a course again is the best option and the result should be a 'fail' - so simply taking part and swimming a bit is not enough

However, it may be that an individual has to go away and practice a few skills in a certain range, or simply do another dive with an instructor to demonstate competance and consistency. It is nice that instructors are able to tailor results to suit this aim.
