| how much is DIR-F these days? is it a 'proper' course or is it more of an assessment/critique? might be interested but not sure i'm at the right level yet - and you kind of get the impression its more of an assessment than a course - happy to hear differently! |

It is very much a "proper" course. The course is designed to educate you and help you get from where you are to where you'd like to be. A lot of people get hung up on "passing" the course. This is not really the point of it. You will learn a lot from the course, and come away with a good understanding of where your diving currently is, what you need to improve on (if you want to) and how to go about improving. The course is not about Passing/Failing anyone, it's about teaching skills. Yes there is an assessment element to the course, obviously there is. We wouldn't be able to help you improve if we don't assess where you're currently at, and where you'd like to be. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to get in touch with either Rich or Myself. Thanks John |

| Hi Justin, John is absolutely right on this. The course is very much a "taught package". We will teach you how to achieve good trim, give you tips on improving buoyancy, fin kicks, valve drills, s-drills, DSMB use etc. These will all be demonstrated to you, both out of the water, and in water. We will then give you the opportunity to practice these skills whilst being videoed. You will get feedback and ideas for improvement. I wouldn't worry about being "ready" or not. If you can dive, then you will get something out of this course. Everyones buoyancy can get better, and everyone can improve their performance in any of the other areas. Obviously there will be new skills, but there's little point practicing these beforehand because they're, well, new Rich |
